I hold deep gratitude for the privilege of experiencing my life on the ancestral, unceded, and ongoing territories of the Coast Salish Peoples, where the Hul’q’umi’num’ and SENĆOŦEN speaking Nations continue to steward the lands and waters of the Salish Sea. This includes  the W̱SÁNEĆ (Saanich) Nation, including BOḰEĆEN (Pauquachin), MÁLEXEȽ (Malahat), SȾÁUTW̱ (Tsawout), W̱JOȽEȽP (Tsartlip), and W̱SIḴEM (Tseycum); the Lekw'ungen Peoples of the Songhees and Esquimalt Nations; and the Hul’q’umi’num’ speaking Quw’utsun Tribes (Cowichan), Penelakut, Lyackson, and Stz'uminus (Chemainus) First Nations. As a white settler, I acknowledge the ongoing impacts of colonization and my position within those systems. I am committed to ongoing actions that support truth-telling, reparative relationships, and the centering of Indigenous sovereignty, knowledge, and presence as a vital part of my work and life.
